Chamois Trail Wengen – Männlichen

A hiking trail in rugged surroundings takes you directly into the realm of the chamois. The spirited, surefooted quadrupeds are particularly fond of the steep slopes between the Männlichen plateau and Wengen, where they bask themselves on rocky ledges and graze on the lush mountain meadows. The Chamois Trail leads from the centre of Wengen to Äussere Allmend, through the mountain forest and up to the tree line, on to Parwengi and Mossenegg and steeply up to the Männlichen plateau. You have plenty of opportunities to observe flora and fauna along the trail.

And this is how it works…

1. Stamp the back of the card at the bottom station of the cableway.

2. Complete the hike; following the «Chamois Trail» sign posts along the whole route.

3. Stamp the card at the Parwengi checkpoint.

4. Stamp the card again on reaching the top station of the cableway.

5. Write your name on the card and hand it to the cableway staff.

6. Hikers reaching the top station in less than 1h 30 min. can travel back to Wengen free of charge.

7. All cards handed in will enter the competition; the fastest participant will win the title of 2009 Wengen Chamois.
