Barrier-free travel

The Männlichen is also accessible for guests with limited mobility. Here you will find the most important information about getting there and the accessible facilities on site.

Whether arriving via Grindelwald or Wengen both mountain railways offer a comfortable journey to Männlichen. From summer 2026 onwards, the Ginto platform will provide comprehensive information about the accessibility of the Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway and the Wengen-Männlichen Aerial Cableway.

Arrival by the Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway

The modern 10-seater gondola cableway allows wheelchair users to board and alight comfortably. The railway staff will be happy to assist you on site if required. The valley station at Grindelwald Terminal, the midway station Holenstein and the Männlichen mountain station were built to be barrier-free in 2019.

Arrival by the Wengen-Männlichen Aerial Cableway

From Wengen, you can comfortably reach Männlichen in a spacious aerial cable car cabin. The cabins offer plenty of space and allow for comfortable travel with a wheelchair. Both the valley station and the mountain station are fully wheelchair accessible and provide step-free access. The valley and mountain stations are wheelchair accessible and provide level access. Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available at both stations.

Parking

Parking spaces with barrier-free access to the terminal are available in the Grindelwald Terminal parking garage. There are also parking spaces with barrier-free access in the Lauterbrunnen parking garage. Lauterbrunnen railway station as well as the onward journey to Wengen are also barrier-free.

Männlichen Mountain Guest House

The Männlichen Mountain Guest House is wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is located at the entrance to the self-service restaurant.

Barrier-free experiences at Männlichen

In summer, guests with limited mobility can visit the barrier-free viewing platform next to the Männlichen Mountain Guest House. From there, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Jungfrau Region and the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

However, the hiking trails on and around Männlichen are not barrier-free and are not suitable for wheelchair use.

Tickets & Accompanying Persons

All holders of an SBB identification card for travellers with disabilities are granted a free ticket for one accompanying person, provided that the person with reduced mobility holds a valid ticket.
