Winter hiking

Winter hiking is a deeply relaxing activity – take all the time in the world to explore and admire the snow-covered mountain landscape.

Rather take in the winter wonderland on foot instead of on skis? Our well-maintained network of winter hiking trails will leave you spoilt for choice. Snowshoes are recommended if you prefer to venture off the beaten track. Here are some route suggestions to help with your planning:

  • Royal Walk
    A short but rewarding ascent from the Männlichen top station to the Männlichen summit (2343 m.a.s.l.). Hiking time: approx. 30 minutes.
  • Männlichen–Holenstein
    An easy descent along a prepared trail from the Männlichen top station to the Holenstein middle station. Hiking time: approx. 1 ½ hours.
  • Holenstein–Grindelwald
    A 700-metre descent to Grindelwald with stunning views. Hiking time: approx. 2 hours.
  • Männlichen–Kleine Scheidegg
    This route takes you through the Arvengarten nature conservation area with its ancient stone pines. The half-hour uphill section to Kleine Scheidegg completes the hike. Hiking time: approx. 2 ½ hours.
